Knights of the Night Guard Role Play
Welcome Knights of the Night Guard!
As you know Novae Terra, the New World, is living in a period in history where strange phenomenon become the norm. The balance is shifted and the cosmos twisted.
Technology, items, people, and places that hadn't been seen for centuries, pop up all over the place, throwing off the balance and order of things. It is your job as the Knights of the Night Guard to find these items, secure them, and ensure they aren't negatively impacting our world.
The University at Haven Bay is a good defense and natural front for the KNG headquarters, located just a few miles off the coast. Under the school they have their base of operations containing all the resources they need to operate such as labs, sleeping quarters, a library, etc. There is also an underground track that transports agents to where they need to be.
There are those who love technology and make it their livelihood. The same can be said for those who love magic. There are some that combine them to make even better things. There are some who bend it to darker purposes. And some hate them both altogether, preferring simpler ways of doing anything.
Your character, working in whatever life you have in your backstory, was approached by an individual one day. They tell you that you’ve been watched and possess a set of skills that could be valuable to their organization. For whatever reason (be it money for your family, debts paid, or a new start) you accept. They tell you that they will come for you at an undisclosed time. But you have at least a month to get your affairs in order, as you’ll never see those around you again.
Old west gangs, robot servants, blimps, trains, strange creatures, and wars among nations are just a few things that you’ll encounter during your time as part of the Knight of the Night Guard.

Hello Patrons!
And Welcome to the KNG roleplay. You can join us on our discord server in the #KNGroleplay channel under the patreon member’s only tab.
We’re excited to have you join and create a semi-canonical world of Terra Novae in the KNG headquarters. The sweet sweet stories we will make will be wonderful to read. All events that happen here will be extra content for our $1+ patreons to read and our $10+ patreons to participate in.
Please remember that all events and characters that happen here have the potential to be picked up for the world but may not necessarily be used exactly how they are presented.

Knights of the Night Guard Briefing
Since the KNG is large and works across the world for all their missions, often being 3 to 4 man teams, the roleplay space will take place at the base of operations so all players (patrons) /characters can interact with each other during their down time in any location, where everyone has an opportunity to interact at any location.
You are welcome to form your own teams together or on your own, maybe they have been lost in the past, or maybe you are waiting for a new team reassignment. Not every KNG agent ends up surviving their field work…
You are allowed to use your submitted NPCs, Playtest Characters, Guest episode Characters, and even new characters you make up for this world in this space, however Devan may end up using them differently than how they were submitted or used in the Roleplay Space. Again, this roleplay is semi-canonical and up to the DM’s discretion on how NPCs are used on the show. Their stories are in the DM’s hands and could change to be an ally, villain, or possibly die before the end of the show.
**We do encourage to make up a new character to use here that will be more true to how you make them and also have the opportunity to show up like a submitted NPC.

Missions
If you would like to go on missions outside of this RolePlay space or reference them, you are welcome to make a person, item, or place to find and take care of with your team. Please do reference these places, that you did this thing, found this item, met these people, etc. and it took 1d8+2 days to complete. More difficult tasks taking 1d12+4 days. It is possible that Devan may or may not pick up these items, ideas, and missions to reference in passing or use in the show!
If you perhaps decide to take the idea and run a one shot with other KNG (Patreon members), let us know the story and/or that it happened!

Jobs and Responsibilities
During your time at the KNG, you have a cover job that involves work at the Haven Bay University when you are currently not out in the field doing a mission. Depending on how long you have been an agent usually informs your position that would be available.
For example: To be a Scientist, you would start off as an assistant, then a researcher, and then move on to be a scientist. Some positions do have their exceptions, especially if you were already very capable in your field beforehand.
*Do keep in mind that when you entered the KNG, you were or are a level one character.

The Stage
Up above ground at the University of Haven Bay, the buildings and rooms are very much Victorian era inspired, very fancy, old fashioned, and well made. It is pristine and the pride and joy of Haven Bay.
The underground levels in the compound that you have open to your leisure of the KNG consist of any place you have heard of in the podcast that is available for your rankings. Places such as the Library, Labs, the bar, office spaces, the gym, pool, etc. The compound looks very boring and bricklike, kindof dull and not all too interesting to look at in the halls and other rooms.

#KNG-gossip room is to talk about ongoings in #KNG-roleplay for out of character content to any of the other roleplayers as well as any patron.
- Every once in a while Ms. B, Lucien, or maybe even William, will pop in to say hello and interact with those they work with! Some of that RP content may also be mentioned on the show in reference, again, to the discretion of the player and Devan on what is used to fit in on the show and the world.
- For the timeline of the room, it will be somewhat linear. Events and opportunities where the crew can come in will usually be during their downtime on the show.
Tips and Tricks
- Interact. If your character walks in and talks to no one, its harder for people to approach them
- Ask Questions. Everyone likes to talk about their character, ask others questions about their character (in character), and they're likely to reciprocate!
- Communicate. If you feel like your character is being ignored, or if something someone said upset you, just let us know and we'll work to resolve it! We're all here to have fun!
- Reminder. People and characters are of all sorts, so some characters may fall in love while others may not get along. We are here to have fun and do not intend to hurt anyone's feelings outside of character. If you have any issues, PLEASE bring it up, we are all welcoming and don't intend to hurt any feelings.
*This is an RP space- meaning people pretend to be someone other than themselves. Conflicts and dislikes in-character do not necessarily mean there is an out of character dispute/conflict.
*If at any point you feel that you have an issue with another player, please do bring it up to the other person to clear the air. Like stated before, we are all here to have fun and do not mean to cause any ill feelings!
Sometimes things are rolled, but it doesn't happen often, so if you have no stats, you'll be fine! If there is any rolling, there are some bot commands pinned to the discord to help!
Things are very lax, there is no DM, no storyline, just a buncha folks having fun in the world of Terra Novae.
Typically, to avoid confusion, we follow this format:
(out of character speech)
"in character speech"
*in character actions* are italicized
"||speech or communication that is not in common or readily observable by all in the area||" behind spoiler bars
You may also include [language name ie orcish, elvish, etc] in brackets besides the spoilers to help remind those around of the type of barrier.
If something is NSFW (Not Suitable for Work), please use your better judgement and use spoiler bars.
